The 'premack breeds'

While I truly do love all dogs, and enjoy working with any of your 4 legged friends I have a soft spot for Hound and Terrier groups. My own boy Milo is a terrier x sight hound and all the conventional training tricks I tried when I first got him failed me. I had to learn how to utilise the ENVIRONMENT to motivate his learning, and to be honest, the first time I was faced with a foody dog it seemed like a trick after Milo. I find working with terriers and hounds takes a whole new level of creativity and can be hard work, but it also creates space for more fulfilling and deeper relationships which is why I love it. You will never train a scent hound to stop following scents, but if you work together you are no doubt going to have an amazing partnership that is second to non.
