Senior dogs

I adore working with seniors, I have lived with, loved and lost 3 now and they fill my heart like nothing else. While we often think of senior dogs as being 'past it' I have had the pleasure of working with a handful of seniors over the past few years who have needed some behavioural support and I love every second of it. There is so much we can do to help our senior dogs feel more comfortable, and live more relaxed and enriched lives.

So far much of my work with seniors has included closely working as part of a multidisciplinary team, including vets and sometimes suitable therapeutic practitioners.

Things I can help with:

  • Transitioning cues for your dog as their sight/hearing deteriorates.

  • Helping work on cooperative care.

  • Helping your dog become confident using a stroller.

  • Helping with the behavioural side of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction through enrichment.

  • Helping with creating quality-of-life plans - Helping you help your dog still have a good time.

  • Household modification recommendations.

  • Helping you create an end-of-life plan (with appropriate management and behavioural support - focusing on mental well-being)

  • Providing emotional you with support when to comes to your dog's end-of-life plan and nursing care.

  • Plus more...
